RF Jammers
RF Jammers are used to generate radio signal jamming. When using RF Jammers, the frequencies to be jammed are usually predetermined, yet the use of an RF Jammer in a prison environment does not share the same goals as intention for the deployment of a Prison Jammer.

The goals of Prison Jammers are clearly set upon the principle of cellular jamming only. RF Jammers and RF Jammer equipment are communication blockers of cellular and radio bands, therefore, RF Jammers pose a hindrance to other electronic communication and electronic equipment not found in a Prison Jammers frequency range.

Because Prison Jammers are designed to operate as cell phone jammers, they have very little to no 'spill over' of their electronic interference into non-cellular radio frequencies. Examples of how an RF Jammer, compared to a Prison Jammer, can have undesirable effects on other equipment in a prison would be electronic interference on:
  • computer monitors
  • cctv cameras
  • uhf / vhf radios low band radios / walkie talkies
Why is a Prison Jammer better to position in a Prison or Secure Facility as opposed to an RF Jammer? The answer is not based on what is better or worse but brings the goals into the forefront in order to decide in advance what the radio jamming needs are to be based upon.

Prison Jammers focus only on the Cell Phone Jammer requirements and not the transmissions or receptions of other radio equipment. Prison Jammers are not designed to give off radio waves to affect or modify electronics other than cellular handsets set to transmit and receive signals on cellular frequencies. On the other hand, RF Jammers make use of high power amplifiers to discharge a brute forceful barrage of electromagnetic energy that can have an effect on many types of electronic equipment other than cellular handsets.

Would a Prison Jammer use the technology of a UHF Jammer or VHF Jammer? A Prison Jammer can incorporate UHF Jamming and VHF Jamming, and this type of communication jamming is popular for those with secure facilities, research centers, military bases, and logistical bases that need to silence all types of electronic communication over the airwaves. Only upon request would a Prison Jammer be configured to go beyond the cellular spectral jamming platform and incorporate wide band, low band, and extended frequency jammer applications. Because secure facilities also use Prison Jammers, the final decision is usually made by the actual client wishing to protect information from getting out by any means possible.
