To understand Prison Jammers, the form of RF Jamming emissions should first be defined. Then the differences should be analyzed in relationship to other Cell Phone Jammers and IED Jammers in use.
Prison Jammers primarily use intelligent spot jamming for communication blocking, the same form of RF jamming found in a tactical Cell Phone Jammer. This means that the operating bands of the carrier frequency to be jammed is known. In the case of Prison Jammers, those bands are the cellular bands for generally GSM and CDMA pathways, yet sometimes, in other countries using older cellular technology, analog AMPS may still be in use. This form of Spot Jamming requires that the carrier frequency of the jammer is modulated by a random noise waveform that will radiate and overwhelm any target by means of a signal whose bandwidth overlaps that of the suspected signal transmitted over the radio link.
How else does a Prison Jammer differ from IED Jammers or Cell Phone Jammers?
To understand the differences in volved, it is recommended to review the operations of other jammers. Specifically, the application of active IED Jammers and Cell Phone Jammers. The similarities and differences involved provide a greater understanding of the RF Jamming process that takes place in a Prison Jammer.
Because a Prison Jammer is always stationary, it is advisable to institute a configuration of Prison Jammers designed and constructed upon the principles of Fixed Radiation Dissemination patterns. The following mobile jammer technologies are based on non-fixed patterns, and they range from Cell Phone Jammers working for communication blocking, to IED Jammers that counter RCIED threats.
A Cell Phone Jammer and an IED Jammer are analogous technologies to a Prison Jammer, in particular, the Prison Jammers design. From a military standpoint, an IED Jammer operates when barrage jammers promulgate their intervention of radio waves through the electromagnetic spectrum in order to defeat Improvised Explosive Devices by attacking the radio triggering mechanism that is used to detonate an improvised explosive device.
These RCIED Jammers, known as Bomb Jammers, are used by EOD Bomb Disposal Teams, Military Forces, and VIP protection teams in order to defend convoys from roadside bombs, checkpoints, border crossings, and military or diplomatic compounds from Remote Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices, weapons of choice that are activated by terrorist, criminal, or enemy combatant groups. RCIED Jammers work in a manner that radiates a full barrage of electromagnetic interference in order to neutralize any type of radio detonator receiving signals on threat identified frequencies. Compared to a Prison Jammer, these RCIED Jammers use more power and resources on a much greater spectrum of frequencies to accomplish the task of jamming a communication.
On the other hand, Cell Phone Jammers give off energy in a circular, outward direction in order to suppress only incoming and outgoing cellular communication links by overpowering the carrier signal and terminating the call upon command. Though this is one of the requirements inherent in the design of a Prison Jammer, Cell Phone Jammers are designed for mobility and portability. Their helical broadcast does not take into full account the geographic boundaries of a physical building made up of a collection of prison cells, office rooms, cubicle workspaces, or other topographical obstructions that can hinder the jamming signal from reaching its intended target.
RF Jammers all broadcast out into the space between radio transmitters and radio receivers, yet the differences of how they go about doing this is essential when setting up the geographic paths within a designated area. It is this region under specific RF Jamming that yields the best results for the defusing of electromagnetic radiation levels acceptable to sever all communication links. This is the region that a Prison Jammer is best suited for use in.
